COVID-19 Research resources 

COVID-19 has been identified as a key issue for health and aged care. The Australian Government has adopted a whole of government emergency response which provides a framework for preparing for, responding to and managing COVID-19 in Australia.

Previously unknown in humans, information about COVID-19 is rapidly emerging from the current pandemic. Researchers together with clinical experts have a key role in the analysis and interpretation of new data and observations.

  • The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is committed to supporting national and international efforts, including NHMRC funded experts, to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.
  • The Australian Government has provided $13 million to fast-track research into treatments for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) through the MRFF.
